Course description: Statistical programming has become an essential skill for scientists. R statistics is a powerful open source statistical programming language and it has become the tool of choice to manage, analyse and visualise research data. In this course you will refresh basic concepts in statistics and you will learn the practical skills necessary to apply them in R. This includes the application of add-on R packages. Using typical example data sets from life science, you will learn how to manipulate data within R, how to compute descriptive statistics and visualize data using tables, boxplot charts and histograms. Finally, you will perform some basic, statistical tests like t test, chi-square test for goodness-of-fit and ANOVAs. Last but not least, by using R scripts, you will learn the basics of conducting reproducible research.
