The federal state government has extended the expiry dates for the 2019 and 2020 holiday periods for civil servants and employees covered by collective agreements in the federal state of MV.
This was decided against the background of the fact that the pandemic situation is causing particular workloads in some areas of public administration. As a result, it may not be possible for some employees to take their holiday as planned. By extending the expiry dates for the 2019 and 2020 leave, the necessary flexibility in the processing of recreational leave entitlements is to be created. The carryover periods are extended:
- for the leave year 2019 until the end of 31 August 2021 and
- for the holiday year 2020 until the end of 31 August 2022.
These also apply to additional leave for severely disabled persons.
The temporary regulation presupposes compelling official reasons, which must be justified by the line manager*n. The extension of the carryover periods is not intended to save up holiday entitlements.
The principle still applies that employees must take their annual leave in the current calendar year. The line managers have to monitor this and, if necessary, request leave if it is not taken.
For further information on holiday entitlement, please refer to the circular on leave (February 2019).
